Another Week Gone By


Starting off this post with photos of two sweaters (very tiny) that were finished at the end of 2013. They are both ready to be packed up and mailed.



Minions! Those cute little guys from theDespicable Me movies, translated into yarn. And Edith (ditto). They are about 6" tall and just perfect for carrying in a pocket for those times when you need something, you know, despicable, done.


And lastly, a Woodland Sprite hat and mitts. The mitts were made by starting with one repeat of the hat pattern, throwing in an eyelet round, and finishing with a basic thumbless mitten.They are for the Purple Warrior Princess.

It has been the week from hell, between work, the weather,  and the dentist, but it's over and the new week promises to be a little calmer. I am hoping for that.

Little Things Mean a Lot!

Just some odd ball useage to report.
Catnip mice made from scraps (not odd balls, true scraps) of worsted weight wool yarn.

These are a mix of Lopi and some recycled tweedy stuff.

Recipe: (as I remember) cast on 18 stitches on needles that are way too small for the yarn used. You want these TIGHT! Join and knit in the round for about 18 rounds. Decrease 3 stitches every other round or so until 3 stitches remain. Draw up weave in "nose" ends.

Stuff with the yarn ends you snipped off and good quality catnip. Sew "butt" closed.

Thread 3 12" or so strands of yarn through the butt. With 3 6" bits hanging on each side, and using 2 strands together, braid the "tail." Finish tail with an overhand knot. Trim.

Find a cat.

New Threads For an Old Friend



My intention was to make a sweater for Daniel Brown Bear from the stripey yarn that I used for the Tiny Prince's last sweater. It became painfully clear about halfway through the yoke that there Wasn't Enough Yarn. So I sighed deeply, frogged it, and started over with the Alphabet Sweater leftovers.

It's an okay sweater, but I might still duplicate stitch a big D (for Daniel) on the belly.

I've been cleaning like a madwoman(at least the worst spots) because the Tiny Prince is coming for the weeknd (okay, he's bringing his parents).

I can hardly wait!
