Working busily on lots of projects at work and following a number of word game apps on the Kindle (trying to improve/save what memory I have left). That left minimal time for knitting this week.

Only FO is a tiny pair of baby sockies. They are knit from some leftover hand painted/dyed yarn that comes out self-striping at this tiny size.

Needles are 2's. Pattern is a basic sock, found long ago on elann.com which only exists in memory these days.

Cast on 30 stitches, join being careful not to twist. . .Annhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11449286284109146876noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7707288.post-89498792680062567772015-03-15T05:40:00.000-05:002015-03-15T05:40:19.728-05:00Whatever Lola WantsThere's a song from Damn Yankees that says it all. You can hear it here.

And here's Lola. In the sweater that she wanted (okay, her mom wanted). I made one like it (without the pink trim) for her partner in crime, Charlie.

(No, Lola and Charlie are not mine!) Sweaters were a special request from Younger Son for a friend.
What Does the Fox Say?

I'm not certain that we will ever know. This one (who goes by the name of Fleabag) is destined for an Easter egg hunt at the home of the Baby Grands.

So far, he's been silent.

And I need to make at least 2 more equally cute egg stuffers pronto! Easter is a mere 3 weeks away.

Pattern in the OOP book in the background. Yarn, odd bits of sock yarn, probably Brown Sheep Wildfoote.

I'm not especially inclined to review this book. A quick search tells me that it's available (possibly) from UK vendors, but Amazon lists it only in the used state. I bought mine (remaindered) at Ollie's (good stuff, cheap) a couple years ago--for less than $5. I have made up only one of the patterns (Fleabag) and it is fiddly beyond beyond. Part of that is My Own Fault, as I used sock weight yarn and size 1 dpns. The pattern calls for DK/worsted and size 4s. I think you can see the problem.

Baby, Baby, Bay-BEE!

And I am replenishing my stock of baby presents.

This newest carseat blankie is in Webs house brand Valley Yarns Dana in a baby blue. When dawn has failed to crack (darn you, DST!) it's hard(er) to get an accurate color on an iphone camera. It's a little deeper IRL

I'll make a pair of matching booties and stash this one away for the next hypothetical future person.

Can't say enough nice things about this Leisure Arts pattern booklet . I've made several of them (Look back to Januaryish 2014 for more pictures). There's a crochet version also available. Most knitters and crocheters would not need (technically) either of these booklets, but frankly, I'm not sure that I would have gotten the concept without mine! I mean, small blankie, perfect for tucking around a tiny infant; no excess fabric to trip up Mom (or Dad). Come on, am I the only one who was in the dark?Annhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11449286284109146876noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7707288.post-42764915056042140432015-02-22T10:55:00.000-05:002015-03-22T09:35:51.638-05:00Little Things Mean a Lot!

It's only a matter of time before the spring fundraisers start, and I want to be ready.

These little tea toters use smallish (15 g or so) amounts of worsted weight cotton yarn, a cute button, and about 45 minutes of knitting and finishing time.

With a tea bag or two tucked inside, they make a nice gift to tuck into a birthday card if you are so inclined.
There's a wonderful series of books by Kay Thompson about a little girl who lives in the Plaza with her Nanny and her dog Weenie and her turtle Skipperdee.

At the height of the cold war, this delightful moppet travels to Moscow in the aptly titled book Eloise in Moscow. I was making something a little special for the Purple Warrior Princess when I realized it looks a whole lot like the hat that Eloise wore.

And so, we will call this the Russian hat and hope that it keeps PWP as toasty as Eloise's kept her.Annhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11449286284109146876noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7707288.post-31810198800226278922015-02-15T09:42:00.000-05:002015-02-15T09:42:17.485-05:00Cold Weather; Warm Gear

Finished this soft and cuddly scarf last week. It's from the last of some Bernat Soy and planned for a yarn bombing. However, the cold weather may have me rethinking that!

And the reaction of TPT (Tiny Prince Two/Too) got me thinking about the Monster Pants leftovers and so I cast on a couple of scarves for him and his big bro (TPO - Tiny Prince Original).

I may have mentioned that both of the Tiny Princes are no longer tiny.

And yes, I know that scarves are often not recommended for little kids, but they aren't so little any more.
I'm pleased with the way they turned out. None of them was difficult to knit, though I will admit that I ripped back (frogged) this one twice before I got my act together.
I will miss that stuff!Annhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11449286284109146876noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7707288.post-13022219156267359512015-02-01T10:51:00.001-05:002015-02-01T10:51:39.771-05:00Monster Pants Finito!

Seeing photos on Facebook of scarf-bombed landscapes, I decided to cast on some Bernat Soy leftovers and make a scarf to leave for someone who might need it.

Bernat Soy is discontinued blend of soy fiber and ack. It's soft and drapey, so it should be good for wrap around the face and neck.

I have 2 full skeins and some bits and pieces. Should be enough.

And the Monster Pants (see previous post) are finished! Yay!!

This is the front.

And here is the business end.

Weather permitting, they'll go out in the mail on Monday or Tuesday.

I will probably make another pair as a fair entry. But for right now, I need to concentrate on other stuff.Annhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11449286284109146876noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7707288.post-81446896498171653432015-01-26T19:21:00.002-05:002015-01-26T19:21:59.891-05:00Works In Progress; Finished Objects

Monster Pants are progressing nicely. A combination of washable wools (well-aged) are (dark blue) Austermann Juwel and (all the other colors Filatura di Crosa 501.

The actual Monster Face is embroidered in duplicate stitch or sewn on as knitted appliques.

Leg #1 is finished. This is not Sleeve Island. And besides, they are very small.

It seems that I am getting into this random pattern thingie.

And for something a bit more traditional, this weekend, I finished a shawl, following the basic triangle that's started at the neck. Increase 4 stitches every other row, 2 in the center, two on the edge.

I used some stashed merino silk blend that I bought on-line umpty two years ago. I wound up over-dyeing a lot of it with Wilton icing color (I think) in a strong blue which made for shades of purple-y and turquoise-y that I striped with the green shades that seem to be original.

I used a little over a pound of worsted weight to make the shawl. It's about 80" wide.

I finished the whole thing off with a knitted lace edging from Sally Melville's The Purl Stitch that served to both embellish and bind off.

I'm pleased with the way it came out, though I did find Ella (our cat) had decided that she really, really loves this yarn. She was sleeping all over it on the blocking mats.*

In fairness, the blocking mats were on the pool table which is where she spends a lot of her time.

I may have to use the odd bits to make a little toy for her.

*Earlier, I found her dancing on the shawl-in-progress.Annhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11449286284109146876noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7707288.post-58523611865860994552015-01-24T20:48:00.000-05:002015-01-24T20:50:14.446-05:00Special Request
A few days ago, the Purple Warrior Princess's Mama shared a photo on Facebook. It was Monster Pants. I am going to have to suggest that you search this one either on Ravelry or Google Images, because there are so many adorable variations on this theme that I would be selling them short if I provided a link, because one link does not do them justice. "Monster Pants" should get you there.

Of course, I replied "Mammo's on it!" Then, I had to find out if the request was for a Sesame Street-type monster (Elmo or Cookie or maybe even Oscar), or what I term a Crazy Monster (with oogly eyes and ver' vicious teeth).

Crazy Monster it is! And the very day I finished my last project (a shawl that hasn't yet been blocked (film at 11; patience, Grasshopper!), I cast on a pair of Crazy Monster longies (that's an EZ term--see Knitter's Almanac). Colors as shown in the photo: deep royal blue, bright blue, lime green, sunflower yellow, plus red for the ver' vicious mouth and white for the ver' vicious teeth.

The butt is finished. I am ready to start the legs.

Just a little Rib-a-Roni hat for the Tiny Prince Original (who hasn't been particularly Tiny in a long time).

Last week, I mailed off odd bits of 2014 fair entries and things I had made to use up odd balls. When it arrived Tiny Prince Too/Two called to say thank you and to tell me that he likes his hat and that the one I sent for the Purple Warrior Princess (his baby sister) was too big (um, I think this 42-Stitch Hat (Google it!) was intended for Mama) and that there was no hat at all for his brother.

So, the hat you see eyes left will be on its way south on Tuesday since the Post Office is closed on Monday for the MLK holiday.

True story: I originally mailed this package on January 2. It was correctly addressed. On January 9, I came home to find it On My Driveway. A quick check of the USPS tracking showed that it had spent several days bouncing around various zip codes (except the one it was addressed to) before it was RTS (return to sender). So, I re-boxed and re-mailed on Saturday and it arrived Monday. At least they got it right the second time!Annhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11449286284109146876noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7707288.post-67773783917970788602015-01-11T18:58:00.002-05:002015-01-18T05:29:25.342-05:00Eleven Days

Eleven days into 2015 and I have exactly one FO to show!

Baby hat made from sock yarn (Rabbitworks Revenge colorway). Because of the ribbing, it will probably fit newborn to about six months and it's machine washable wool, so some little one will be toasty. If you look at the posts from December, you'll see that there are sockies to match.

Recipient to be named at a later date.Annhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11449286284109146876noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7707288.post-68834847098639819892015-01-01T20:42:00.000-05:002015-01-01T20:42:42.324-05:00It Was a Very Good Year2014 is officially over and as I do every new year (okay, since 2002), I tallied up the things I finished.

They say that you start the new year as you finished the old.

If that's true, 2015 will be the year of the sock.

Following the completion of the Mitered Sock Yarn Blankie, I started turning the leftover sock yarn into, well, socks. Baby socks.

I am off for the week, trying to use up vacation days that I will lose otherwise.

That's allowed me to assess my annual yarn output and to discover that I am coming up alarmingly short of FOs!

Which led me to a desire, no, a need, to complete some very small projects.

Witness the booties and dish/facecloth to the left. There were 2 more face cloths completed, but they are already in the hands of the USPS, so no pictures.

End of the year also forced my organizational skills to kick in. I sorted through several years of accumulated knitting/crochet magazines and leaflets and discovered these beauties (Mon Tricot, I think) from the 70s and 80s.

They, also, are in the hands of USPS, winging their way to Kentucky, where I hope they amuse my friend, who, I hope, will not recreate. . .

I love the camera on my phone! Taking and posting pictures no longer involves fighting with (the now defunct) Kodak. But it also means that the colors are sometime a little muddy.

Witness the woven scarf to the left. In Real Life, it's actually quite bright. It's woven. The yarn is alpaca. Lime, turquoise, purple. Faux plaid, don't you think?

Three skeins of Filatura Lanarota Alpaca DK Splash. From Smiley's. No longer available. Made it on my 10" Cricket rigid heddle loom.

I still have some of the red/pink colorway that I am debating for another.

To the right, the Spiral Log Cabin blankie. You can search on Ravelry for the pattern. It was a quite mindless knit (stopping only occasionally to count ridges).

About 10 skeins of yarn, 5 each of two colors: cream and denim.

Yarn is also from Smiley's, Filatura Lanarota Easy Wool (wool/ack blend). All that's currently available is black, but this is their house brand, so keep checking back for other colors.

And I finished my walking hat.

Filatura Lanarota (do I sense a theme) Puno, a 100% alpaca in a berry heather and a denim heather. I love this stuff!

Double thick, reverse stockinette. Yum!

Same hat, turned inside out.

The Other Half has requested one.

I think black and camel. Or black and charcoal.

Still working on stuff to close out the year. Mindless small stuff. Still stash-busting whenever possible. Watch for the year-end report in about a week.Annhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11449286284109146876noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7707288.post-11358560229694689002014-12-06T16:29:00.001-05:002014-12-06T16:29:10.847-05:00Remaking an Old Friend

A long, long time ago, on a planet very far away, Sheepy made this very warm hat.

Now, when I say very long ago, I mean about 35 years. And when I say very warm, I am talking double layers on the crown and 4-layers thick over the ears.

It's a perfect hat to wear while walking in the winter, or using the snow blower.

But, it's 35 years old and exhibiting some wear (especially at the color changes).

Here's the inside/reverse side.

I'm thinking that the inspiration (or more likely the pattern) was in a McCall's Needlework magazine from the 1970s. Back then, I was a blind follower.

And how is it that I can date this cap so precisely (or at least get in the circa for it)?

Note the lime green, burgundy, and cream yarn in the hat.

Now, lookie here:

The family Christmas stockings, pre-Purple Warrior Princess. The third stocking from the left is the first one I made. In 1977. To mark the birth of the PWP's daddy's first Christmas. Leftovers from that stocking and a sweater or two wound up in my hat!

And now, I am seriously due for a replacement.

Particulars:

Original: 4 stitches/inch, worsted weight ack, Bernat or Berella, most likely.

Replacement (eyes left): 5 stitches per inch Filatura Lanarota Puno (100% alpaca), so it will be thinner (I increased to more stitches) but at least as warm (probably downright hot).

I'll be throwing in some stripes of mulberry (for sure) and cream (probably) and charcoal and black (let's see how that goes!) for the reverse side.

Here's a recipe (reverse engineered from the original):

Materials: bunch of leftover yarn that goes together (or not). Appropriate size needles (I probably used 8's or 9's on the original. I'm definitely using 6's on the remake), set of dpns and a 16" circular.

Cast on 29 stitches. Join. (do I need to spell out the part about joining not twisting??)

Increase to 87 (worsted weight) or 116 (DK weight). (Work one round, then increase by kfb in each stitch to the end of the next round. Repeat these two rounds twice more for worsted and 3 times more for DK.)

Knit forever (24"). Decrease by k2 tog all the way around, knit one round even until you are back at 29 stitches (3 decrease rounds for worsted; 4 for DK). Draw up, fasten off. Fold double with the purl side out, tack the beginning to the end. Fold up a cuff.

Stay tuned. This may not last unworn until the fair in the late summer. If we have a repeat of last winter, I'll be wearing it by Christmas.Annhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11449286284109146876noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7707288.post-55278997335152553912014-12-01T20:22:00.001-05:002014-12-01T20:22:56.698-05:00What Has Sheepie Been Weaving?

Here's a bunch of stuff that got woven during the summer, and finished (hemmed) today.

Three dishtowels, cotton chenille. The pattern may look vaguely familiar. It's a variation on the cover project of the November/December Handwoven. Same warp on all three. different weft on each: green, blue, mauve (top to bottom).

I left out the pick up stick patter.

Another set of 3 dish towels these in cotton, plain spun for the warp, a thick and thin for the weft.

I don't know if the embiggen feature will show it, but there's an almost "argyle" (diamond) pattern formed by the thick parts of the weft.

And the latest on the 10" Cricket: a scarf in alpaca, warp and weft.

The yarn is Filatura Lanarota Alpaca DK Splash from Smiley's. It's not on their site any longer. Don't bother to look. It's well-aged and yes, I am stash busting.

I probably have enough of this colorway to make a second scarf if I use a solid for the warp or weft. Or I might knit a beanie to match.Annhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11449286284109146876noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7707288.post-15869750968614392622014-11-30T07:33:00.000-05:002014-11-30T07:34:47.222-05:00What has Sheepie Been Up To?Serious apologies to my follower. It's been a very hectic fall here in Sheep World.
Well, the Mitered Sock Yarn Blankie (you'll have to do a Ravelry search) is finally finished.

I lost track of the number of different sock yarns I incorporated, but there's even one square of a tiny bit of leftover Noro Sock. This is most assuredly another memory blankie.

After 3 years in the making, I know it needs a wash and block. There is one yarn that concerns me (a hand dyed that I did myself with Kool-aid). Gonna bite the bullet later today.

And later today, I'll be working on this one. It's a log cabin variation that I am enjoying a lot.

Based on 10 stitches, yarn is Easy Wool from Smiley's in denim and cream. Well-aged stash.

Tiny Prince Original (who is now 7 and knows this stuff) pronounced the denim "itchy" in the sweater I made for him. ::le sigh::

Perhaps as a blankie. . . Meanwhile, it's mindless car knitting when I am the passenger.

And here, the precious Tiny Prince Two/Too and Purple Warrior Princess model fall hand-knitted sweaters from Mammo.

TPT requested that his sweater be "orange." We compromised on dark orange (rust) because, well, the orange yarn in my stash was hand wash only, almost lace weight, and not sufficient to the task. This is a lovely washable wool (Moda Dea) and probably long discontinued. PWP's is also washable, Berrocco Vintage, I think, and available.

Both Patterns are in Carol Feller's Contemporary Irish Knits. I am looking forward to making other designs in this book.

I would like to promise that I will be more faithful as a blogger, but that would probably be stretching the truth. I'll be back with updates when I can.

These days, I am walking for my health, and though my mile is still 18 minutes, it's getting faster (slowly, if that makes any sense at all).

My path is not flat. We live close to the highest point in our small town, which means that while the walk out may be downhill, the walk back is not.

This morning I watched squirrel races as I walked on the paved area near our elementary school. (Click to embiggen so you can see one of the racers.)

Yesterday, I spotted these which appear to be fall-blooming crocus. (from the web, search on fall-blooming crocus) Crocus kotschyanus (formerly known as Crocus zonatus) is a somewhat weedy species usually flowering in October. It has a bad reputation not only because it is a rampant self-seeder, but also because many forms have flowers that are woefully undersized. There is a form in commerce that appears to be badly infected with a virus, as the flowers are not just small, but seriously deformed. A good form of Crocus kotschyanus with flowers of reasonable size is worth having, however. In some lights the flower color approaches a delicate pink, and one can forgive a self-seeder of such beauty.

And a few days ago while walking at lunchtime near where I work, I spotted these.

I'm pretty sure they won't flower or go to seed (seem to be a bit "seedy" already, though).

Here are another few of the fair entries for this year.

At right, an adult cap. This was the first item I finished since the last fair, and truthfully, I nearly entered it as fair isle.

Yarn is a blend of wool and ack. Pattern?? Who the heck can remember?

This year's Red Scarf Project scarf.

Baby set (2- or 3-piece) using a very old pattern from Spinnerin (c) 1975 The New Wee Moderns (so, before I was knitting for my own kids) for the hat and booties. The sweater is a basic top down with the same texture knitted in.

Yarn is Cascade Cherub (all synthetic) that I am dearly glad to (finally) be rid of.

Cowl from (I think) an IK special edition. Yarn is Fibranatura Baby Merino, another one I'd love to be done with. The color is called Johnny and is blue, tan, and olive drab.

Felted "other," a cute little vase knit from the last of some Noro Kureyon that I had stashed a good long time. Pattern from one of the newish Cascade books.

This one was fun to knit and felted up quite nicely. I will probably use it just for show. Perhaps with some dried grasses.

Felted purse. Needs a button in the center of the flower, I think. Too late now!

Yarn is from SERRV (fair trade non-profit). Want more. No longer available. Drat!

Lap robe in the Mason Dixon ball band dishcloth pattern.

I used Decor/Encore odd balls in 3 colors.

So now you have seen everything I photographed before dropping my stuff at the fairgrounds. And now, I wait.Annhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11449286284109146876noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7707288.post-92190897129709385772014-08-23T10:32:00.002-05:002014-08-23T10:32:51.276-05:00It's Time For the Fair!
The Great Allentown Fair starts next Tuesday. It's a tradition that goes back only a very few years. The old tradition was more of a harvest fair, in late September. Now, it's the last hurrah before school starts. I am thinking that the new tradition has something to do with kids skipping school to go to the fair. . .

Also, traditionally (in a tradition that goes back about 8 years), I enter a number of knitted items. This year, that number is 30.

Only a sampling is shown here, and since I have dropped everything off at the fairgrounds (yesterday morning), more pictures will have to wait until the results are in and I pick up my stuff.

First up, a dressy shawl in organic cotton. IK pattern, I think.

Followed by a scarf from one of the One Skein Wonders books in Noro sock yarn, stashed for a good long time while I looked for the perfect pattern.

The pattern is deliberate bias and the long stretches of color show it off well.

This is Adult Scarf, fine yarn.

The sweater I finished earlier this year in Puno (alpaca) color mulberry. The yoke is patterned, the body and 3/4 length sleeves ribbed (really wide rib). This one is for me.

And I look forward to wearing it this fall.

Fair Isle, any garment in a variety of odds and ends of wool. The pattern is from Anna Zilboorg's 45 Fine and Fanciful Hats. This is one of the berets in the book.

I'm pleased with how even my stranding is.
I fell in love with this pattern the first time I saw it on Ravelry: Sheep In the Meadow pillow cover in odd bits of wool/ack blend (Encore, Decor, Easy Wool).

I had vowed not to buy yarn for these projects and I (mostly) kept that vow (see below), so my cover is smaller (the pattern calls for chunky yarn, I used worsted weight) but the size is perfect for the form I had on hand and for lumbar support on my desk chair.

These little ladies made me break my promise as I had no washable yarn in suitable skin and hair colors in sufficient quantity to make the knitted doll I had in mind.

So off I went to Joann's (coupon(s) in hand) to buy flesh (I was looking for peach) and something suitable for hair.

Vanna's Choice for the skin in the only even close to pinky flesh tone I could find (and believe me, I looked). WoolEase in a medium brown made up the hair.

This project brought me right down to the wire. I was embroidering features at 8 pm Thursday.
I report in weekly on one of my email lists and promise "film at 11" but never seem to get around to 1) taking pictures and 2) posting them.

This is an attempt to get back up to speed.
Afghans for Afghans is having a baby shower this month. Needed are socks (real socks with turned heels) and baby hats for the approximately 85 new babies born each day in Kabul.

Imagine! 85 new babies all entering the world, stark naked!

I'm really pleased with the way the self-patterning pair came out! No, they aren't identical, but they are close and that's what I was hoping for.

Here are all of my offerings. Baby sockies are so quick to make. If it weren't for other deadlines looming, I'd devote my summer (or at least June) to baby socks!

And here's one of the deadline projects.

This one is destined to be a fair entry then it will be the Purple Warrior Princess's Christmas sweater.

Buttons are coming. The pattern suggests toggles. I am tempted to go buy them, but my button stash is probably bigger than my yarn stash, so I am considering faux leather or some cross-cut antler. I think it needs something more natural than plastic.

On the health front, my spine surgeon has cut me loose. The Physical Therapists, ditto. I have to continue exercising and walking, probably for the rest of my life. The pain in my legs (except for the arthritic knee) is gone. I'll take it!

On another note, I am seeing a cardiologist regularly to deal with my blood pressure (not a new issue) and atrial fibrillation (that manifested during surgery). Three new medications and it is getting under control.

Getting old is not for the faint of heart!Annhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11449286284109146876noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7707288.post-25132585876111863352014-05-11T04:55:00.000-05:002014-05-11T04:55:22.475-05:00Has It Really Been a Month? It has really been a month!

I promise to do better with knit blogging, but first, I must update my loyal fan.

The surgery on April 8 (2" approximate incision) was a rousing success. I was scheduled for 7:30 a.m.which meant being at the hospital at 5. Probably could have skipped trying to sleep, since that didn't happen. Hooray for early starts (no food after midnight until it's all over)! By 10, I was in the recovery room, completely alert (what a change from the last surgery experience 2 years ago) and my legs were pain free. Talk about relief!

I spent the next several hours in "holding" while waiting for a room. But that was okay. No pain. Books (Kindle) and knitting to keep me company. I sent the Other Half home to sleep.

I must say that both roommate experiences were challenging. But they are over and I have moved on.

I spent a couple weeks using a walker or a cane but have (mostly) abandoned both. Physical Therapy starts next week. I will see the cardiologist regularly and the spine surgeon a couple more times.

Life is good!Annhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11449286284109146876noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7707288.post-40987518125638581692014-04-07T12:04:00.001-05:002014-04-07T12:05:47.333-05:00Drive-By Blogging

It's been a rough month, Loyal Reader, but the end is in sight. (More about that after the knitting stuff, okay?)

I ran out of room on the 60" circular needle, so I have declared the 2014 Hexagon Scrapghan to be finished. Point to point, it is 72" across and odds and ends of all sorts of animal fibers.

It's a wonderfully snuggly blankie. (See comments at the end.)

And a special request from the Baby Grands (Tiny Prince Original, Tiny Prince Two/Too, and Purple Warrior Princess): Basic slippers, ala Minions!

These will go in the mail tomorrow or the next day (see below).

BELOW: I have been nursing what was thought to be Give It Time and It will Go Away Sciatica which Did Not Go Away.

Last Tuesday, I was scheduled for back surgery (simple, outpatient, an hour, tops) that turned into an overnight stay in the hospital on multiple monitors with dual (dueling) IVs and postponement due to heart issues (serious, non-life threatening).

Postponed surgery is now scheduled for tomorrow (time TBA) and I will probably be stuck overnight again for "observation.

The prognosis for my back and legs is good. I have been told that the relief (pain) will be almost immediate and that the strength will return to my legs, probably the right before the left.

I am not inclined to request prayers (that just isn't who I am), but if you could keep a good though for me, I would appreciate it.

On a happy note, I have crossed two off my Bucket List: ride in an ambulance and inject drugs. I will no longer need to contemplate again doing either! But I really had hoped to sit in the front and work the siren.Annhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11449286284109146876noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7707288.post-38558564524933513652014-03-30T06:08:00.001-05:002014-03-30T06:08:44.556-05:00Does This Pom Make My Butt Look Fat?

Garter square bunnies from here to fill the eggs that fill the egg covers. Sort of like those Russian Nesting Toys.

I never realized how fond I am of them until I counted how many (several) we have.

So, now I am making them.

Sort of.

Knitting this week has been confined to 1) small fiddly things (the only things I've been able to finish) and 2) the never-ending Scrapghans (actually just one of those and I am on the home stretch --or I had better be, I am running out of room on the 60" circular needle!

There are several UFOs on the needles. Perhaps there will be more FOs to report next Sunday. . .Annhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11449286284109146876noreply@blogger.com0
